British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has appointed new employees to his team after some civil servants left amid a scandal over holding parties during a lockdown. This is reported on the government’s website.
Over the past few days, the British prime minister has lost five assistants at once. In particular, Downing Street Chief of Staff Dan Rosenfeld, Public Relations Director Jack Doyle and the Prime Minister’s personal secretary Martin Reynolds resigned. Munira Mirza, head of the Internal Policy Department, Jack Doyle, Director of Public Relations, and Elena Narozansky, Adviser on Equality Issues, also resigned.
Parliamentarian Steve Barkley became the new head of the prime Minister’s office. As noted in the Downing Street office, the appointed employees “will accelerate the implementation of the priority task, which is to equalize the standard of living in the country.”
At the end of January, Britain published an investigation report on Boris Johnson’s parties, according to which events in Downing Street during lockdown were recognized as a serious violation of ethics standards. The findings indicate that, given the epidemiological situation in the UK, some of the parties at Johnson’s residence should not have been held the way they were organized.
