Russia has threatened Ukraine with the use of nuclear weapons in case of de-occupation of Ukrainian territories. Such statements are yet another attempt to intimidate Ukrainians.
This is the opinion of Channel 24said a former employee of the SBU, an expert at the Institute of the Future Ivan Stupak. Earlier, Sergey Lavrov said that all Russian laws and doctrines, including nuclear, will also apply to the territories of Ukraine “annexed” through fake “referendums”.

He added that, despite the absurdity of the threats, it cannot be ruled out that russia can really decide on a nuclear strike.

Where Russia can strike
According to him, there are several levels of how Russia can use nuclear weapons.

- Second level – the Russians can destroy a small military or civilian target .
- At the third level, Russia can launch a nuclear attack on major cities to hit the decision-making centers.
What Russians need to understand
Stupak stressed that the Russians will achieve nothing by their actions. According to him, the aggressor country must understand that there is no single decision-making center in Ukraine.
There are different branches of government in Ukraine. In the event of the destruction of one of them, the other will support its functions. There is also an extensive military command. Therefore, there is no need to take Ukrainians to these cheap “show-offs,” the former SBU officer emphasized.

Russia's reaction to nuclear threats: the main thing
