The Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany may reconsider the decision on the impact of certification of the Nord Stream-2 operator on the safety of gas supplies to the EU but the chances are not very high.
According to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnik, the operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system applied to the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany to revise the decision on the impact of certification of the Nord Stream 2 operator on the safety of gas supplies to the EU.
During the conference Ukrainian ambassadors-2021 Strategy of a strong state in the state residence of Sinegora Melnyk shared his views on the chances of changing the position of the Ministry of Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany on this issue.
– I think there are chances. They are not very high, but the process is still technical. We use all the levers, Melnik noted.
He recalled that both Naftogaz and the GTS Operator were admitted to the certification process for the Nord Stream operator. 2 & # 8221;, their position will be considered and, according to the diplomat, this is also important.
& # 8212; But the most important thing for us is that politically this issue again returns to the sphere of discussion. This will give us a chance to take advantage of these arguments that we have – there is an agreement between Germany and the United States, adopted in the summer. It was associated with clear premises. We see that after that the situation did not improve, but worsened. This gives us a chance to again bring this issue to a very serious discussion, the ambassador explained.
On October 18, it became known that the first string of Nord Stream 2 was filled with technical gas.
After that, the US State Department announced that Nord Stream 2 will not work until March 2022 due to the certification process in Germany and the European Commission.
