“The world will be warmer”: in 80 years Russia will become 7-9 degrees hotter. The rapid pace of temperature growth in the country is associated with the increase in the Arctic.
The average temperature around the world will rise, but in Russia this will happen at a faster pace: by the end of the century, the country may warm by 7-9 degrees. This opinion was expressed by Alexander Chernokulsky, a researcher at the laboratory of climate theory at the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics.
“The world will definitely get warmer, but in Russia it will get warmer faster. So far, everything is going according to an aggressive scenario. If by the end of the 21st century the world will become 3–3.5 degrees warmer, then Russia – by 7–9 degrees, ”Moscow 24 quotes the climatologist.
He associates the rapid rates of temperature rise with the Arctic increase.
“This is due to the physics of climate systems, when the increase in temperature in the northern countries and the Arctic is higher,” said the specialist.
According to him, in order to slow down global warming, measures must be taken by the whole world. Thus, many countries want to achieve a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by the middle of the century. But if some states declare that they will bring the indicator to zero, then in Russia the reduction is not so ambitious.
