“He has a decent lethality, the institute in India, which opened it, is all dead. This is a severe hemorrhagic fever, ”said Loktev.
He noted that so far in Russia, a single case of infection with this virus has been detected. The patient spent a month in intensive care, in general, the treatment lasted three months. According to the scientist, the natural focus of the virus is monkeys and ticks. So far, it is only distributed in India and China.
At the same time, Loktev added that the tick-borne route of infection should not be underestimated, since the geography of viruses is changing.
“Today, the tick-borne encephalitis virus went to the north of the Komi Republic and further up to the tundra, Syktyvkar and so on, in fact it reached Vorkuta, crossed the English Channel in Europe, invaded the UK, crossed Gibraltar, invaded Africa, tick-borne encephalitis – in the foothills of the Alps “, – explained Loktev.
