The Guardian writes about this.
The Case of the “Woman with the Flower Tattoo”
Police have appealed to the public for help in identifying 22 women killed over the past 50 years. Operation Recognize Me was launched in May by police in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, Interpol and the international police organisation. Details of cases that are usually only available to law enforcement have been made public.
The case of the “woman with the flower tattoo” dates back to June 3, 1992, when her body was found near a grate in the waters of the Groot Schein River in the Derne district of Antwerp. Brief description of the woman:
However, her striking physical feature was a tattoo on her left forearm depicting a black flower with green leaves and the words R'Nick underneath it. It was this that allowed Roberts' body to be identified after a member of her family contacted the organization and Belgian authorities through the Get to Know Me website.
The report notes that Roberts was 31 when she moved to Antwerp from Cardiff in February 1992. The last time she communicated with her family was over a card in May of that year. Her relatives went to Belgium and officially recognized the deceased.
Roberts' family noted that this news came as a real shock to them. She is remembered as a beautiful person who loved to travel. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews, and always wanted to have a family of her own. Relatives of the deceased are grateful that they were able to find out what happened to her.
“Our passionate, loving, free-spirited sister was cruelly taken away. There are no words to truly express the grief we felt then and still feel today. She had the ability to light up a room and wherever she went she was the life of the party.” We hope that wherever she is now, she is at peace,” they said.
Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock emphasized that the operation is a very important work. Such cases highlight the vital need for unified police forces around the world, especially when it comes to missing persons.
“After 31 years, the unknown murdered woman had her name returned, and her family managed to find out what her fate was,” Stock concluded.
Earlier, the body of a volunteer from the UK who disappeared a month ago, 36-year-old Daniel Burke, was found in Ukraine.
