A Reddit user shared a story about how she banned her mother-in-law from seeing her grandchildren because of one of her phrases. The woman said that she and her husband have four children in common, but recently the spouse's mother, speaking about the youngest child, said that her daughter-in-law gave birth to her “first real grandson.”

“My husband's family is very old-fashioned. They believe that a woman should stay at home with her children and be a slave to her husband, ”the author of the post shared. At the same time, she noted that her husband adheres to different views: he watches over the house and takes care of their children, while she works. “My husband is Hispanic, and I am a white American,” she said.

According to the heroine of the story, her mother-in-law often accused her of cheating on her son, since the three older children are more like a mother. “When our fourth child was born, it was obvious that he would be like his father,” she said. According to the narrator, upon seeing the youngest grandson, her mother-in-law said: “This is my first real grandson.” The husband of the heroine of the story asked the mother not to speak like that anymore, but she did not stop repeating that the newborn child is now her beloved grandson.

As a result, the author of the post forbade the mother-in-law to communicate with her grandchildren if she does not feel like their own grandmother. After the incident, the mother-in-law sent her many messages and asked not to separate her from the newborn, but the narrator insisted on her own.
