The Wizz Air carrier suspends flights to Moldova: the media named the reasons

by alex

A similar situation was in Ukraine on the eve of a full-scale war against Russia.

From March 14, the Hungarian air carrier Wizz Air suspends flights to Moldova. This is supposedly related to security issues.

Televiziunea Română writes about this with reference to a press release from the carrier.

The air carrier allegedly fears security in Moldova due to “recent events in the country.” That is why they allegedly decided to suspend all flights to Chisinau from March 14.

“Wizz Air has closely monitored the security situation in Moldova and has been in constant contact with various local and international authorities and agencies to ensure the highest level of safety and security of operations. Passenger and crew safety remains the number one priority for Wizz Air, and as a result of recent events in Moldova and a high, but not immediate risk in the airspace of the country, Wizz Air has taken the difficult but responsible decision to suspend all flights to Chisinau on March 14,” Wizz Air said in a press release.

Passengers who bought tickets were promised to compensate for their cost and offer alternative flights from neighboring countries.

These data have also been confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority. There are no details yet.

Russian threat to Moldova

It should be noted that before the full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, many air carriers also canceled flights to our state.

The day before, the Ukrainian authorities handed over to Moldova data that Russia was preparing to destabilize the situation in this state: to seize the airport in Chisinau and launch an offensive from the unrecognized Transnistria.

At the same time, the occupying Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation states that allegedly it is “Ukraine that is preparing aggression against fake Transnistria.” Earlier, President Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to help Moldova with Pridnestrovie if this unrecognized entity threatens the territorial integrity of our state.
