A video of the first minutes of the tragedy in Brovary has appeared online. The whole yard was engulfed in flames.
The video shows how a fire started at the crash site of the helicopter – the fire seemed to disperse throughout the yard. Eerie screams of people can be heard in the background. Channel 24 writes about this.
Children were immediately evacuated from the kindergarten
The mother of the rescued girl, Vanessa, said that when the helicopter crashed, they immediately thought it was a kamikaze drone. However, there was no time to think – the fire immediately started. The teacher and the nanny opened the window on the first floor of the kindergarten and transported the children through it to the street.
4 schoolchildren who were nearby also joined the help. They said they took the children out of the window and gave them candy to calm them down a bit. They also helped the rescue services and looked for the parents of the kids.
It is known that at the time of the helicopter crash there were 73 children in the kindergarten. Some children were at the building with their parents and reached the educational institution.
The main thing about the disaster in Brovary
- The tragedy occurred at about 8:11 in the morning on Simon Petlyura Street – a helicopter flying to the front in the Kharkiv region crashed near a kindergarten.
- As a result of this Air crash killed 14 people, including 1 child. The child's injuries were incompatible with life.
- 9 of the dead were in the cabin of the helicopter. Among them are the head of the Ukrainian Navy Denis Monastyrsky, his first deputy Yevgeny Yenin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lubkovich.
- The SBU is already investigating the causes of the tragedy. The investigation is considering 3 versions: violation of flight rules, malfunction of the helicopter and deliberate actions to destroy the helicopter.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that the tragedy in Brovary is another consequence of the war. This is also emphasized by the interim acting head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko. After all, if there hadn't been a war, this flight would not have happened at all.
