World Health Organization spokeswoman Margaret Harris explained the delay in the recognition of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. She told RT about this.
She linked the non-admission of the drug to the “verification of technological processes.” The official explained that for inclusion in the register of funds for use in emergencies, WHO requests data on the safety and efficacy of the drug, as well as documentation on the production technology.
“Often it’s the third thing – checking technological processes – that takes a lot of time to find out all the details, carry out an inspection, and so on,” she said. The WHO spokesperson added that other regulators are working in a similar way.
On December 28, it became known that Russia ranked fifth in the world in the export of vaccines against coronavirus, having shipped 93.4 million doses of drugs to recipients. The first place in the ranking was taken by China, which exported 1487.6 million doses of vaccines. It is followed by the European Union (1366.8 million doses), India (72.8 million doses), the United States (348 million doses).
Earlier it was reported that the export of Russian vaccines set a record in the entire history of the country since the early 1990s. Since the beginning of this year, deliveries abroad of the main “vaccine code”, which has grown sharply after the start of shipments of “Sputnik V”, has exceeded $ 1.2 billion.
