White House press secretary Kaylee McEnani declined to comment on congratulations to US Democratic candidate Joe Biden on his presidential victory from Russian leader Vladimir Putin. TASS reports.
“No comment on this,” she said, adding that she would leave the opportunity to speak on this matter to Donald Trump himself. There was no conversation between Trump and Putin after the Russian president congratulated Biden, McEnani said.
Earlier, Putin congratulated Biden on his victory in the presidential election. In the telegram, the Russian leader wished the President-elect every success and expressed confidence that Russia and the United States “can, despite their differences, really contribute to solving many problems and challenges that the world is currently facing.”
Biden received the electoral college votes needed to win the presidential race. He received 302 votes against 270 necessary for victory. The Democrat called the decision of the electoral college a clear victory, won by him over the incumbent head of state, Donald Trump.
