Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan called the fastest way to reduce tensions between Russia and Ukraine. His words are quoted by CNN.
He noted that Russia has deployed more than 100,000 troops near the borders. According to the representative of the White House, for a quick de-escalation of the situation, Russia should withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian border.
Sullivan stressed that the United States is making decisions in response to the active buildup of military pressure on Ukraine. He also added that he “almost every day” talks with aides to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Earlier, Sullivan said that Russia, in the event of an invasion of Ukraine, could capture the country's major cities, including Kiev. Advisor to US President Joe Biden said that there is a high probability of capturing a significant territory of Ukraine and large cities. However, he did not develop this topic in any way.
