The European Union (EU) continues to work on the list of Russian banks that will be disconnected from the international system of interbank payments SWIFT. This was stated by a senior representative of the White House during a telephone briefing, reports TASS.
According to him, the banks that have already fallen under sanctions are considered first. The official noted that, nevertheless, it is the European Union that will determine the final list, since SWIFT is under the jurisdiction of Belgium.
Earlier, a senior US official said that sanctions imposed by Washington for a week affected ten of Russia's largest financial institutions. According to US estimates, these organizations control almost 80 percent of the total assets of the Russian banking sector.
