Russia's military aggression against Ukraine will come with a harsh cost and massive consequences. This is stated in a joint statement of the representations of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Ukraine, Poland, a number of other European countries, as well as the EU at the UN, writes TASS.
The statement was made against the backdrop of an informal meeting of the UN Security Council “according to the Arria formula” by Russia on the issue of violations of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
The text emphasizes that the UN Charter prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. In addition, Western countries also called on Russia to end its hostile disinformation campaign against Ukraine.
Against the background of growing tensions around the situation in Ukraine, NATO has increased the combat readiness of its rapid reaction forces. The alliance has reduced the readiness time for the deployment of the Joint High-Readiness Task Force (VJTF) in the crisis zone from seven to five days.
