Viktor Orban is convinced that the Russian Federation can be defeated at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, but the question is whether Ukraine will become a NATO country.

NATO is going to conduct a military mission in Ukraine, but Hungary will not participate.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said this on radio Kossuth, local media Portfolio reports.

At the same time, Orban noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine, violating all principles of international law, and the West sees this as an opportunity to weaken Russia.

< p>The Hungarian Prime Minister is convinced that the Russian Federation can be defeated at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. However, the question will be whether Ukraine will become a NATO country.

“The West wants to win, but I think it is hopeless. Even if it succeeds, the price will be so high that it is not worth it. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians have died, almost a million children were left without parents or cannot work. An entire generation will be in a hopeless situation,” Orbán said.

According to a Hungarian politician, Budapest has an agreement with the NATO Secretary General that Hungary will not participate in the Alliance mission in Ukraine.

“There is a minimum goal that we can achieve: we have an agreement with the NATO Secretary General. NATO will have a military mission in Ukraine, but Hungary will not take part in it. We have reached an agreement not only with the Secretary General a secretary who is leaving, but also with a NATO secretary general who is coming. No one from NATO will put pressure on Hungary,” Orbán added.

In addition, Hungarian journalists note that NATO is not preparing for a military mission in Ukraine in the literal sense of the word, but the military alliance will deepen cooperation between member countries in coordinating support and training for Ukraine. Participation in such cooperation is voluntary and does not impose any obligations on Hungary, so Hungary does not need special guarantees to refuse participation.

Recall that Hungary does not support Ukraine’s entry into NATO and the EU. In addition, the Hungarian authorities are making ambiguous statements about Russia's war against Ukraine.
