Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Department of the First Sechenov State Medical University, virologist Vitaly Zverev named the optimal frequency of revaccination. He noted that repeated vaccination can be done no earlier than in 3-4 months, Izvestia reports.
The expert noted that too frequent revaccination can lead, in particular, to an increased risk of myocarditis in men. According to him, such data is confirmed by Israeli statistics.
“It should be borne in mind that there may be negative consequences if the gap recommended by scientists is not maintained. For our vaccines, including Sputnik, this is six months. In general, it is safe to be revaccinated after 3-4 months, but not before,” Zverev pointed out.
The Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed to the publication that there is a risk of myocarditis after the third dose of the vaccine, but it is extremely rare, one case per 15 thousand people.
Nevertheless, the ministry recommended to put a booster vaccination no earlier than four months after the main one. The World Health Organization (WHO) adheres to similar recommendations.
Earlier, the director of the Gamalea Center, Alexander Ginzburg, told the Russians which vaccine should be chosen for repeated revaccination, that is, for the third vaccination. He advised elderly people to use Sputnik V — choose two components of this vaccination. And Ginzburg urged the rest of the citizens to use Sputnik Lite.
