The Israeli military tested a powerful laser system installed on an aircraft. She was able to eliminate the drone.
The laser was installed on board the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft. The video from the tests was published by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. It is shown how the installation tracks the drone and fires at it. Exposure to the laser made it possible to disable the apparatus.
It is reported that a test interception of several drones was carried out using a laser. This happened at various ranges and flight altitudes. In addition, the laser hit targets from a distance of more than one kilometer.
The Israeli Defense Ministry believes that the interception of drones using lasers has a low cost. It also opens up the possibility of hitting vehicles at high altitudes and distances, “to defend vast territories.” However, this method can only be an auxiliary one.
