The Russian vaccines against coronavirus infection “EpiVacCorona” and “EpiVacCorona-N” have the same active ingredients, but they are synthesized in different ways. This was announced on Saturday, August 28, by the Deputy Director General of the Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology “Vector”, whose scientists have developed the drugs, Tatyana Nepomnyashchikh.

The expert said that both preparations contain three peptides, excipients and a carrier protein. For patients, it makes no difference which of these vaccines to choose.

– The main difference lies in the peptides, which are synthesized separately in the first vaccine. You can think of them as multi-colored kernels of corn, and the carrier protein as a cob. In EpiVacKorone-N, these grains are combined into one, – Tatiana Nepomnyashchikh explained in an interview with RT TV channel.

She added that this method will allow the production of large quantities of vaccines against coronavirus infection with increasing demand.

As the website Kp.ru wrote, the Russian Ministry of Health registered the fifth Russian vaccine against coronavirus – “EpiVacCoronu-N” – on August 26 this year.
