Tank T-14 “Armata” on the battlefield will be used as a headquarters. Izvestia discloses the potential use of the corresponding promising products, citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to the newspaper, such use of the T-14 “Armata” is possible due to the presence of an automated control system (ACS), which allows real-time control of the operation of other combat vehicles.
“T-14s will be able to cover other vehicles with their active protection complex and electronic warfare equipment. If necessary, they will support them with fire, ”the newspaper writes.
The newspaper notes that the T-14 “Armata” “can not only be brought together in separate units, but also distributed among the existing regiments with modern armored vehicles.”
Military expert Aleksey Khlopotov added that this combat vehicle “was developed in the era of network-centric wars and corresponding requirements were imposed on it.”
In February, RIA Novosti, citing a source in the military-industrial complex, reported that the T-14 “Armata” for the first time did without a crew, independently finding the necessary targets on the battlefield. The interlocutor of the agency added that a fire control system (LMS) was used for this.
In July 2018, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov noted that the country's armed forces do not seek to massively purchase T-14 Armata tanks due to their high cost, preferring to increase the combat potential of existing military equipment through its modernization.
