During the joint strategic exercises (SSU) “West-2021” of Russia and Belarus, military aviation used a helicopter carousel to support ground units from the air. The video of the maneuvers is published by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“To deliver air strikes, the crews of the Mi-35 and Mi-24 helicopters used Shturm-V or Attack-M anti-tank missiles, as well as S-8 unguided aircraft missiles and standard onboard armament of helicopters. Acting as part of the units, lining up in a “circle” order of battle, they fired continuously at communications, command posts and communication routes of the areas occupied by the “enemy,” “the defense ministry said in a statement.
Exercises “West-2021” are held from 10 to 16 September 2021, about 200 thousand military personnel and up to 760 pieces of equipment are involved in them.
