American journalist Philip Hersh will appeal to the International Skating Union (ISU) due to non-compliance with the recommendations to combat the spread of coronavirus at the Russian Grand Prix stage. He wrote about this on Twitter.
Hersh said that Russia is disregarding the ISU's recommendations, allowing coaches and skaters to hug after the skates, while doing it without masks and keeping a distance. He drew attention to the fact that Russia is in fifth place in terms of the number of cases of coronavirus, and considered that the country “plays Russian roulette”, allowing spectators to enter the stands. Violation of ISU recommendations may result in penalties or cancellation of the competition results.
The Grand Prix stage was held from November 20 to 21 on the ice of the Megasport arena. Spectators were allowed to the competition, subject to the sanitary and epidemiological rules. The winner in the women's competition was Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, in the men's competition – Mikhail Kolyada, in pair skating – Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, and in ice dancing – Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov.
