The American magazine The National Interest has listed the five most powerful ships of the Russian Navy.
The publication assures that after the collapse of the USSR, Russia got an actually “bloated” fleet. “The Kremlin has embarked on an ambitious program for the renewal of the navy, which includes both deep modernization and completely new developments,” the magazine writes.
The most powerful ships of the Russian Navy in The National Interest include: heavy nuclear missile cruiser “Peter the Great” of project 1144.2 “Orlan”, which is the largest combat surface ship in the world, nuclear submarine (nuclear submarine) of strategic purpose K-549 “Prince Vladimir” of project 955A (09552) Borey-A armed with R-30 Bulava-30 missiles, Project 885M Yasen-M nuclear submarine K-561 Kazan equipped with Kalibr-M cruise missiles, a long-range sea and ocean missile cruiser zones “Marshal Ustinov” project 1164 “Atlant”, which has, in particular, the anti-ship missile system (ASM) P-1000 “Vulcan”, and the corvette “Thundering” project 20385, capable of using missiles 3M-14 “Caliber”, “Onyx” and 3M22 Zircon.
The publication, in particular, reminds that of the listed products only the ships of projects 1144.2 “Orlan” and 1164 “Atlant” were created in the USSR.
In March, The National Interest magazine listed the deadliest weapons of the US Navy: the German Mark 23 pistol, the Columbia-class nuclear submarine, the Barrett M82 self-loading large-caliber sniper rifle and the fifth-generation F-35C Lightning II carrier-based fighter.
