NI CEO Symes: in case of aggression in its direction, Russia will act decisively

Dmitry Simes, publisher and CEO of the American magazine National Interest (NI), predicted the scenario of a possible start of a hypothetical conflict between Russia and Ukraine. His article is published on the publication’s website.
According to the CEO, last December he had a conversation with representatives of the Russian political elite, who said that Moscow has no aggressive plans. “I have not heard a single mention of the possibility of a major Russian invasion simply because Moscow’s demands for non-expansion of NATO and non-strengthening of the alliance in Eastern Europe have not been met. In Moscow, all interlocutors deny such a possibility,” he said. At the same time, Symes stressed that in case of aggression towards Russia, it will act decisively.
Earlier, Reuters reported that, according to the calculations of unnamed officials in the United States, in the event of a “full-scale invasion” of Russia into Ukraine, the number of possible victims of a potential conflict could reach 85 thousand people.
