The US gave the green light to vaccination against coronavirus

The head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Robert Redfield gave the green light to the coronavirus vaccination by signing Pfizer and BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine expert advice on Sunday, December 13. RIA Novosti reported about it with reference to the statement of Redfield.

“Last night, I proudly signed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations to use Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 and older … The first vaccinations will begin Monday,” the agency said in a statement.

Earlier, Fox News, with reference to the head of the White House vaccination program, Gus Pernu, said that the US authorities were preparing to start vaccination of the population against coronavirus. According to Pernu, the authorities will begin implementing the distribution plan for the drug from Pfizer and BioNTech as early as Monday, when it reaches 145 vaccination centers. Another 425 medical institutions will receive the drug on Tuesday, 66 on Wednesday.

There are currently several COVID-19 vaccines in the world. Thus, two vaccines are registered in Russia: Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona. On December 5, Moscow started vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik V. Pfizer / BioNTech has registered a COVID-19 vaccine in the United States, and another Moderna vaccine is on the way.
