Anthony Blinken
The United States is ready to ease sanctions against Iran only after it returns to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which is designed to resolve the crisis over Tehran's nuclear developments. This condition was called by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, TASS reports.
Congressman Brad Sherman asked Blinken if he was prepared to reassure the United States legislature that the country's current government “pending sanctions relief” on Iran expects to see “verifiable compliance with the JCPOA” by Tehran or move the latter “through negotiations to full compliance “nuclear deal. The Secretary of State confirmed this.
In January 2020, Iran announced its rejection of the agreements on the JCPOA. In early May 2018, former US President Donald Trump announced Washington's unilateral withdrawal from the deal and the resumption of anti-Iranian sanctions.
The JCPOA agreement on Iran was concluded in the summer of 2015 between Tehran and six intermediary countries. Later, Iran was caught in gross violations of the agreements.
