The National Interest columnist called it bad news. He explained that the contract was awarded to the general director of the Scientific and Production Association of Mechanical Engineering Alexander Leonov. He said that the weapons will be delivered in 2025.
It remains unknown which Russian ships will be equipped with the Zircons. Earlier it was only reported that the frigate of Project 22350 could become the first standard carrier of the rocket. The American observer believes that as a result, many ships of the fleet, and even submarines, will be equipped with “Zircons”.
The expert said that the missile will be able to counteract the effective work of the aircraft carrier groups of the US Navy. Experts noted that the speed and strength of hypersonic weapons “are so great that they can inflict damage simply by hitting, without even needing an explosive.”
