The US Department of Justice, as part of an investigation into the tax cases of Joe Biden's son Hunter, became interested in his connections with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. This is reported by the Associated Press, citing a source familiar with the investigation.
According to the American publication, the US authorities have requested information about Hunter's connections not only with the Ukrainian company, but also with “two dozen other organizations.” In addition, the Ministry of Justice began to study the business relations of the son of the president-elect with China and his “other financial transactions.”
It is noted that as part of the investigation, which began back in 2018, the country's authorities at some point suspected Biden Jr. of the possible commission of money laundering crimes.
Earlier on December 10, the son of the new US president said that the US Attorney's Office for the state of Delaware had begun to study his tax history. At the same time, he expressed confidence in his innocence, noting that he used the services of tax consultants.
