The US Army has entered into an agreement with Lockheed Martin to produce 870 missiles Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE).

The total contract amount was $4.5 billion, reports press service of the American Armed Forces.

Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Douglas Bush said the multi-year contract “is consistent with the Army's commitment to stabilize and expand our manufacturing capabilities for this critical weapons system.”

In addition, he stated that this defense system is important to the United States military, Ukraine and other allies around the world.

The Pentagon also noted that these missiles are in great demand because they allow defense using hit-to-kill technology, in which the warhead hits the target directly, causing maximum damage and knocking it off its flight path .

We recall that it was previously reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Kyiv and Washington had coordinated steps to supply Patriot.

In addition, we previously informed that NATO country transferred Patriot missiles and Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
