The American ground forces received the first batch of high-precision operational tactical missiles PrSM (Precision Strike Missile).
Delivery of Precision Strike missiles Missile Increment 1 Early Operational Capability in the United States follows successful testing in November at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. In the future, these missiles should replace ATACMS with a range of 300 km, which are currently in service with the US Army.
The US Army announced this on Friday, December 8th.
PrSM is a new generation military weapon for conducting high-precision fire over long distances. It is launched from the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and M270A2 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and is capable of neutralizing targets over 400 km away.
“The Precision Strike Missile will provide Joint Forces Command with a 24/7, all-weather capability that will counter an adversary's ability to conduct combat maneuvers and air defense operations,” said Doug Bush, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology. .
“The rapid development and delivery of these capabilities is a clear example of the Army's active use of new congressional acquisition authorities, allowing us to get improved equipment into the hands of Soldiers much more quickly,” he added.
Recall that earlier American ATACMS long-range missiles expanded the Ukrainian target catalog, since now the Defense Forces will be able to hit airfields, air defense systems and other important military installations of the occupiers with greater accuracy.
