White House says US intends to impose blocking sanctions against RDIF

The United States intends to impose blocking sanctions against the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Twitter, TASS reports.

According to her, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will make the appropriate decision.

Psaki added that the RFP functions as a “sovereign sovereign wealth fund, which should attract capital to the Russian economy in sectors with high growth.”

Earlier, the US Treasury announced that the United States had imposed sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and several other members of the Russian Security Council.
