The United States intends to use its capabilities to free hostages and protect civilians.
USA vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate end to the IDF operation against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
This is reported by Reuters.
The draft resolution submitted by the United Arab Emirates demanded that Israel stop the operation against Hamas. The resolution was supported by 13 members of the Security Council, Great Britain abstained, and the United States vetoed.
“We can't just press our fingers and the conflict will stop. This is a very, very difficult situation. This is not about isolation. It is about the fact that we think it is better to try to end this conflict as “as quickly as possible,” said Deputy US Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood before the vote.
The United States and Israel oppose the ceasefire because they believe that it will improve the position of the militants. At the same time, Washington supports a pause in the operation to allow the release of hostages and the protection of civilians.
The United States favors its own ability to secure the release of hostages and pressure Israel to better protect civilians over UN action.
Recall that it was previously reported that the Israeli army (IDF) will conduct the first stage of the war in the Gaza Strip for another 6-8 weeks, after which the second stage will begin.
In addition, we previously informed that Israel is preparing for Operation Atlantis. It assumes the flooding of tunnels under the Gaza Strip.
In addition, we previously reported that Israel has revealed how many of its troops died during the operation against Hamas.
