The United States has suddenly suspended flights of all B-1B Lancer bombers and sent them for an unscheduled inspection.
This was ordered by the head of the United States Air Force (Air Force) Global Strikes Command, General Tim Ray. According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, similar decisions have already been made this year.
The April 8 incident at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota was likely the reason for the new MOT. There the B-1B, after landing, was taxiing to its parking lot, and at this time there was a fuel leak. For safety reasons, all bombers have been banned from flying for now.
The journalists also recalled that the US Air Force currently intends to reduce the B-1B Lancer fleet to 45 aircraft. 17 bombers will be decommissioned and used for test purposes or in museums.
