The US State Department recalled that it is Russia that to this day illegally occupies 20% of the territory of Georgia.
In the US State Department ridiculed statements by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, which claims that Washington allegedly has a plan to “achieve a change of power in Georgia” after the parliamentary elections in October.
When asked to comment on this statement, Russian State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that this was “absolutely untrue.”
“This is not the first time Russia has made such insinuations about “interference in Georgia” by the United States and other countries of the world, which were absolutely false,” he recalled.
Miller also drew attention to the “irony of how Russia – a country that to this day illegally occupies 20% of Georgia’s territory – makes such absurd accusations against another country.”
Recall that it was previously reported that Georgia’s accession to the European Union has been suspended.
In addition, we previously reported that The United States has indefinitely postponed planned military exercises with Georgia.
