US Ambassador to the UN said that Washington will observe the discussion between Russia and Ukraine

Washington will watch what comes out of the talks between Russia and Ukraine, which are due to take place on Sunday, February 27, in the Gomel region of Belarus. This is how the US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield reacted to the upcoming meeting, TASS reports.
Earlier, on February 27, it became known that the Ukrainian delegation nevertheless agreed to hold talks with Russia in the Gomel region of Belarus and went there. It was noted that the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko persuaded to send his representatives to the meeting of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during a telephone conversation. Later, he also asked his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that his delegation stay in Gomel and wait for the Ukrainian negotiators to arrive.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special operation in the Donbass. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and the severance of diplomatic relations with the Russian side.
