The US House of Representatives has proposed new sanctions and restrictions against Russia. RIA Novosti reports.
In particular, the congressmen adopted a resolution on the case of Alexei Navalny, in which the American authorities were asked to introduce new sanctions. The document was submitted for consideration on September 23. It is noted that it is advisory in nature.
In addition, the House of Representatives adopted a bill aimed at preventing the restoration of the G8 format and Russia's participation in the G7 meetings, TASS reports. In particular, the US authorities are banned from supporting or assisting the Russian side in this.
Navalny became ill on August 20 during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow. In the first two days, doctors from the Omsk hospital helped him. They also introduced him to an artificial coma. On August 22, the patient was sent to a clinic in Berlin, whose doctors announced the discovery of traces of a substance from the Novichok group in Navalny's body. In September, Navalny was brought out of a coma and discharged; after rehabilitation, he intends to return to Russia.
Russia was a member of the G8 before the annexation of Crimea in March 2014. However, after the referendum on the peninsula, the participating countries decided to abandon the G8 format.
