The US is concerned about China's “tacit support” for Russian actions in Europe. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, reports RIA Novosti.

He commented on the joint statement of the two countries adopted following the meeting of the Russian and Chinese leaders in Beijing. A spokesman for the military department noted that Washington is concerned about China's position on Moscow's policy and assesses it as a “destabilizing security factor.” “Their joint statement on February 4 was further evidence that China has decided to side with Russia on what is happening in Europe,” Kirby said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an unprecedented high level of partnership between Russia and China. He called the interaction between the two countries a model of efficiency, responsibility and commitment to the future.

A senior US administration official later accused Moscow and Beijing of working to harm Washington. He noted that the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping indicates that Beijing considers Moscow's actions against Kiev legitimate.
