In the event of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the number of possible victims of a potential conflict could reach 85 thousand people. Unnamed American officials told Reuters about this.
In the United States, it was estimated that Ukrainian troops could lose from 5 to 25 thousand military personnel, Russian – from 3 to 10 thousand military personnel. At the same time, from 25 to 50 thousand people may die among the civilian population.
Officials also said that if Russia invades Kiev, the Ukrainian capital could fall “within a few days.” In addition, millions of refugees will pour into Europe because of the conflict, according to Washington.
At the moment, Russia has about 70 percent of the combat power that is allegedly required for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the agency’s interlocutors said. According to them, over the past two weeks, the number of tactical groups in the border area has increased from 60 to 83, and another 14 are on the way.
