Reuters: the United States decided to restrict the import of smartphones into the Russian Federation during the “invasion of Ukraine”

The US authorities have conceived the introduction of tough measures against the Russian Federation, limiting the import of smartphones, components for the production of aircraft and cars to Russia, during the “invasion of Ukraine”, reports Reuters.
According to the agency, citing a senior US administration official, the restrictive measures, which will be discussed at the meeting of senior officials, will be in addition to the economic sanctions that the Biden administration is considering in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
These discussed restrictions could have a serious impact on Russian consumers, manufacturing operations and employment, Reuters points out.
Earlier, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said that the United States is working very closely with the countries of the European Union on new packages of sanctions against Russia in case of its aggression against Ukraine. Donfried also once again threatened the Russian side with consequences in the event of a military invasion of Ukrainian territory.
