The United States is concerned about the capabilities of Russia and the PRC in space, Commander of the US Space Force, General John Raymond, told The New York Times.
“China and Russia have several ground-based laser systems of different power. They are designed to be destroyed or damaged from the ground, or to disrupt our ability to use satellites, ”Raymond said.
Both countries have opportunities that cause concern, he said. The general emphasized that all these threats exist today, we are not talking about the future.
In particular, Raymond spoke about one of the Russian satellites, which resembles a nesting doll. In his opinion, the device was created in order to destroy American satellites in low-earth orbit.

General John Raymond then said it was a “real threat.” This is not the first time that the Russian military launched Nudol. Before that, the start was in December 2018.
