In the event of an invasion of Ukraine, Russia is unlikely to make a large-scale offensive, it is rather trying to pull troops along the border. This development was allowed by the former commander of US forces in Europe, General Ben Hodges, Fox News quotes.
The military doubts that Moscow has the resources to launch a full-fledged invasion. “Russia is squeezing Ukraine like a boa constrictor is squeezing its victim… But I don’t expect a large-scale attack,” Hodges suggested.
However, Senator Tom Cotton, a former army infantry officer who participated in the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, does not agree with him. According to the US military, the invasion is “more likely than not.” Cotton said that not only the outlying parts of Ukraine were vulnerable, but also the center – Kiev.
Earlier, NBC News, citing US intelligence, published maps of the alleged offensive of Moscow's forces on Ukrainian territory. Russia has already deployed almost 100 of the 168 tactical groups of the armed forces, consisting of 800-900 troops each, with more every day. At the same time, the Russian side has repeatedly stated that there are no plans to attack Ukraine.
