National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said he did not want to fight Russia. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Sullivan, in the event of an escalation around Ukraine, the US military, which is stationed in Europe, will protect NATO allies, and not engage in battles with Russian troops.
Earlier, US Navy Rear Admiral John Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said the United States could send US military forces in Europe to Ukraine to assist in the evacuation. Kirby assessed the current situation in Europe as requiring a strengthening of NATO's eastern flank.
