Tensions between Russia and the United States will not grow against the background of Washington’s response to Moscow’s proposals on security guarantees in Europe. This is how Klaus Larres, Professor of international Relations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, assessed the current situation, Izvestia reports.

“I don’t think there will be even more tension because of the US response,” the political scientist stressed. She suggested that there is nothing unexpected or surprising in the content of the American side’s response. Larres suggested that the current situation with the confrontation between Moscow and Washington will continue “for the time being.”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the responses of the United States and NATO to Russian proposals on security guarantees in Europe will be made public to the public in the near future. The diplomat noted that although Washington prefers that the document remain for confidential diplomatic dialogue, it has been agreed with all US allies and with Ukraine.
