The US State Department said that Germany is ready to take serious measures against Nord Stream 2 in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. RIA Novosti reports.
US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland also said she expected the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to be shut down if Russia invaded Ukraine. The White House noted that the fate of the project in the context of Ukraine is a top priority for the United States.
Earlier it was reported that the US defense budget for the coming fiscal year was presented without sanctions against the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. According to a document published on the Congress website, the American authorities did not impose restrictions on either the gas pipeline, or against the Russian national debt, or against Russian individuals suspected of violating human rights.
