The US administration has allowed the Baltic states to supply Javelin anti-tank systems to Ukraine, as well as Stringer anti-aircraft missiles. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
For the re-export of Javelin and Stinger systems to Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, US sanctions as a manufacturer and supplier of weapons were required. “The United States gave the go-ahead to three Baltic NATO member countries to send American-made weapons to Ukraine,” the newspaper notes. He also points out that such a decision will help the Baltic countries to send Javelin anti-tank systems and Stinger anti-aircraft systems to Kiev.
According to the WSJ, the US administration also notified Congress of its intention to deliver five Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine, which were originally intended for the Afghan military and were being repaired in Ukraine.
Earlier, the president of the Potomac Foundation, Philip Karber, said that Ukraine would not have enough FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs) supplied by the United States for a possible war with Russia. Karber noted that the United States supplied the Ukrainian military with about 120 Javelin ATGM launchers. According to him, this can only be enough to contain the situation on the contact line.
