Former member of the House of Representatives and ex-presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard called the US authorities warmongers and accused them of lying about the situation around Ukraine. She made such a statement on the Fox News channel, a fragment was published on her Facebook page.
“The warmongers say we have to defend Ukraine because it is a ‘democracy’. But they lie. Ukraine is not really a democracy,” Gabbard said.
The politician recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky closed the opposition TV channels that criticized him. In addition, Gabbard pointed to the arrest of Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party.
In her opinion, American politicians are interested in lining their own pockets in Ukraine, which is why they cannot abandon the idea of enmity with Russia. The United States pursues the same goals in Syria, Gabbard is sure.
In 2019, Gabbard accused US President Donald Trump of wanting to seize Syria's oil fields. She said that the head of the White House left the military contingent in Syria not to fight terrorist groups, but “to protect oil fields that do not belong to the United States.”
