The UN reported that search and rescue operations would soon be completed.

Note that at the time of publication of the material, more than 25 thousand people were known to have died as a result of earthquakes.

“I think it is difficult to accurately estimate (the number of victims – ed. ) because you still need to get under the rubble. But I'm sure that the number will double or even more. It's terrible. It's shocking… the thought that under these There are still people in the wreckage, some of them are still alive,” Griffiths said.

He added that search and rescue operations in Turkey and Syria will soon be completed, because the ideal period for saving people is 72 hours.

“But they (rescuers – ed.) got someone alive an hour or two ago. It will probably be incredibly difficult to decide when to stop this phase of the rescue and move on to the next phase, which will also have its own problems,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the UN.

Recall, as of on the evening of February 11, the number of victims of the earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria on February 6 reached 25,401. Another 80,104 people were injured.
