An irreversible catastrophe awaits the planet by 2030 due to global warming, which is rapidly increasing. This was announced on Monday, August 9, in the report of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Organization experts said that two years ago, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was at its highest in the past two million years. At the same time, the temperature on the Earth's surface has been growing rapidly over the past 50 years due to the emission of greenhouse gases.
“Greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels are choking our planet and putting billions of people at risk. This will affect the entire Earth, make the world unstable. Climate change will lead to the fact that the planet will soon have more showers and floods, severe drought and large-scale wildfires, – said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
UN experts stressed that it is necessary to urgently reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to stabilize the temperature on the planet for 20-30 years.
Recall that over the past few weeks, large-scale natural disasters and extreme weather events have been observed in different countries: floods have caused damage to Europe, China and India, large wildfires have flared up in the United States, Canada, Greece and Turkey.
