“We are experiencing a moment like in 1945. But this is not 1945. Today's war is being waged against a microscopic virus. Tomorrow may start against terrorists in cyberspace, ”Guterres said.
He noted that it is necessary to maintain international cooperation and expand the understanding of what this concept means. “In our interconnected world, we need a multilateral approach,” the UN Secretary General explained, insisting on the need to turn the global system into a global partnership.
Earlier, the expert of the World Health Organization (WHO) Maria van Kerkhove recognized the faster spread of the “British” strain of coronavirus. She noted that new information about the infection is constantly coming in. “We rely on the reproductive number, which has increased from 1.1 to 1.5,” she explained.
