United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres is encouraged by the ongoing diplomatic efforts on the situation around Ukraine. This was stated by the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Dujarric, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, Guterres is convinced that there will be no war, since a military “conflict would be a disaster.” Dujarric also added that the UN is seeing ongoing and active diplomacy at various levels.

Earlier, the UN called for avoiding dangerous rhetoric amid reports of the time of the invasion. “In any situation where there is a risk of conflict, be it the current situation or other escalating rhetoric, it is dangerous and should be avoided. It is important that the words are aimed at a diplomatic solution,” Dujarric said.
