The third committee of the UN General Assembly on social and humanitarian issues approved the anti-Russian resolution of Ukraine. According to the document, Russia discriminates against the inhabitants of the peninsula, RIA Novosti reports.

Thus, the resolution refers to the temporary “occupation” of Crimea, the “imposition” of citizenship, as well as the illegal holding of elections and changes in national identity. In addition, the document called the establishment of Russian jurisdiction and administration in the region illegal.

The co-authors of the Ukrainian project were such countries as Georgia, Germany, USA, Great Britain, France and a number of other states. 63 countries supported the document, 85 abstained, 22 more opposed it.

Gennady Kuzmin, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, called such a statement by Kiev “bullshit” and noted that the voting in Crimea was held within the framework of international law. He also stressed that the region is already tightly integrated into the political, economic and legal field of Russia.

Earlier, Ukraine imposed sanctions against Nicaragua for opening a consulate in Crimea. Kiev accused Nicaragua of “an openly unfriendly step” that “promotes the aggression of the Russian Federation and its attempt to annex” Crimea and Sevastopol.

Crimea became part of the Russian Federation after a referendum on the peninsula. Ukraine considers it an occupation.
